A Message from Senate Minority Leader Janet Bewley   13 seconds. That’s all it took for the GOP to end a special session called by Governor Evers meant to remove a law dating back to 1849 outlawing abortion in all but the most extreme circumstances from our books.    Let me repeat that, 13 seconds. No debate, no vote. Simply the banging of a gavel.    This is the kind of extremism that Democrats throughout the state are up against this year.  The Republican Party has gone so far right that it now wants to strip even the most basic medical protections away from thousands of Wisconsinites should the U.S. Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade.    They have to be stopped. And they have to be stopped in 2022.    But I need your help to hold the line. Should we lose just one seat in the State Senate this November, the GOP will be able to override the Governor’s veto power. That means his ability to stop further draconian legislation would be eliminated. This cannot happen.      I’ll be honest, yesterday was a difficult day. But it gives me hope to stand with an amazing group of Senators that work tirelessly to defend the rights of all Wisconsinites, day-in and day-out.
