  • VP Mike Pence to visit GE facility in Madison
    • Talking Points below

  • Special election in WI-07
    • Deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is May 7

  • We all need to do our part to keep our families, our neighbors, and our communities safe, and Democrats have been working around the clock to respond to and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Wisconsin.
  • COVID-19 has been and still is a situation that sometimes changes by the hour, and that means Gov. Evers and Democrats are going to continue relying on the science and public health experts to help guide us through these challenges and to inform our decision-making process.
  • Last week, Gov. Evers announced we are extending our “safer at home” order. This was a difficult decision but the right decision—the health and safety of the people of our state must come first.
  • These are difficult times, and folks across our state are making sacrifices, but safer at home is working, and it’s because everyone is doing their part by staying safer at home that we have saved lives together.
    • A few weeks ago, we had a pretty grim outlook for what COVID-19 could mean for our state—according to the model created by DHS, Wisconsin was projected to have between 440 and 1,500 deaths from COVID-19 by April 8th
    • In the first three weeks of our “safer at home” order, data show we have saved at least 300 lives and perhaps as many as 1,400 lives.
    • And that’s why safer at home is so important—so that we can continue to make sure our healthcare workers and system aren’t overwhelmed and can continue doing their important work.
  • But we’re not in the clear just yet—we still have a lot of work to do to ensure we can reopen our economy safely.
  • We know a lot of folks are concerned about the effects this will have on workers and businesses across our state, and no one wants to reopen our economy as much as Gov. Evers and Democrats do.
  • The bottom line is that our businesses, our workers, and we as consumers can’t be confident in our economy if we’re not confident about our safety and our health.
  • Reopening our economy is going to take careful preparation and planning, and that’s why today Gov. Evers announced our Badger Bounce Back plan to ensure our state can bounce back from COVID-19.
  • Gov. Evers’ Badger Bounce Back plan outlines phases and important criteria for us to be able to reopen our economy, including steps to ensure our workers and our businesses are prepared to reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

  • Donald Trump and his administration wasted months ignoring the coronavirus, and now they are sending Mike Pence here for a photo-op while health professionals and patients in Wisconsin and across this country are still scrambling to get the medical equipment they need
  • Thanks to Trump’s erratic, chaotic response, America was unprepared for this crisis, Wisconsin’s economy has been further hurt and China rolled us at every turn -- nothing Pence says today can distract from this record of failure
  • 220 people have died in Wisconsin from coronavirus, but Trump says he’s doing a great job with the crisis.
  • Frontline medical professionals in Wisconsin have raised the alarm about getting the necessary PPE to keep them safe, but the Trump administration continues to play games and force states to compete amongst themselves for this essential equipment.
  • The Trump administration has failed to provide adequate coronavirus testing — but Trump continues to claim it’s “so easy to get.”
  • Over 300,000 Wisconsinites have lost their jobs in the last month
Donald Trump and the administration failed to implement a national COVID response for months, when it could have helped mitigate the spread of the virus.
