Iron County Progressive

From the Wisconsin AFL-CIO

Two big wins for working people happened late last Thursday night as the House passed both the Protecting the Right to Organize Act (PRO) Act, H.R. 2747 and the USPS Fairness Act, H.R. 2382.

The PRO ACT is the most significant update to labor law in the United States in the last 85 years. It passed out of the U.S. House 224-194.

The USPS Fairness Act will lift the 2006 mandate to prefund retiree benefits for USPS workers, freeing up our postal service from significant financial losses. It passed the House with two thirds majority support at 309-106.

Wisconsin Representatives Rep. Gwen Moore, Rep Mark Pocan, and Rep. Ron Kind all voted to pass the both PRO Act and the USPS Fairness Act. We thank them for standing with working people and voting to pass both these important bills.

Working people will be watching as the PRO Act and USPS Fairness Act advance to the Senate. We will be making calls and contacting Senate offices in support of vital legislation to support working people.

In Solidarity,

Stephanie Bloomingdale, President
